Should People Go to College?
Okay, so here’s the thing.
College—yes, absolutely, if it were free. Like, no question.
Learning how to think critically, how to challenge ideas, how to write and argue and explore stuff you didn’t even know existed?
That’s gold. That’s the kind of thing that changes how you see the world, how you see yourself. And that kind of growth?
Invaluable.
But the way it’s set up right now?
Ugh. It’s become a scam.
Not the learning part, but the price tag.
The fact that you need a four-year degree just to get your foot in the door for a job that pays barely enough to cover rent and student loans?
That’s wild.
Why is a bachelor’s degree the new high school diploma, but with a \$100k+ price tag?
It’s not that college isn’t worth it—it’s that it shouldn’t be a luxury.
It shouldn’t be this gatekeeping mechanism for basic opportunities. If it were free, or even just affordable, we’d be having a totally different conversation.
But right now?
It feels like a toll booth on the road to adulthood, and the toll is your financial future.
College? Yes.
But not like this.
