[Third Time’s a Charm, AMIRITE]
When this whole lockdown started and my partner INTRUDED on my space, I’ll admit it was like camping. I scooched over and we shared my fairly large home office. When the kids returned to school / daycare, the deal got even sweeter.
But as days turned to weeks turned to months turned to years the office seemed to get smaller and smaller.
And smaller.
But first the news:
- Nineteen Covid-19 deaths in last week, 55% of known cases traced to home
- #BlackOutTuesday: NL Times Joines top Black Platforms to Promote Black-Owned Businesses
- What to look out for when travelling during coronavirus
And then.
I started the new job.
And wanted a change in perspective. So we rearranged the office.
And it was good.
And THEN.
The new job gave us a small budget for the home office and I’ve always wanted a standing desk, so I got one. A fancy one. One that switches between standing and sitting. Electronically.
Everybody with me, ‘OOOoooOOOOh’
Of course when it arrived, I rearranged the office. Again.
And it was good.
And THEN!! !
Actually it wasn’t all that good. Actually it was kind of crap.
The light from the doors reflected off the monitors. But I couldn’t think how to make it better. So I slept on it. And this morning I woke up from a nightmare. (BOO!) and while the image seared into my brain wouldn’t go away, suddenly my brain gave me an image of how the office could be arranged to accommodate all the desks and all the laptops and all the shelves and all the chairs and all the equipment and all the wires and, most importantly, all the people.
I’m the kind of person who absolutely loves organization and order and design and now that I had the ultimate office arrangement, all I wanted to do was jump out of bed and shove around furniture.
At six in the morning.
And it was good.
No, well, actually, it was NOT good as it was six in the morning, lots of the furniture is NOT single person liftable, and I COULD HAVE gotten another HOUR of sleep if my brain hadn’t been SO! FREAKIN’! EXCITED!
I had to wait an ENTIRE day to play with large pieces of furniture but the office is finally DONE!
And, sure, if I was smart, I’d have taken before and after pictures. Of each arrangement.
But.
I am not always smart.
I promise that tomorrow will have photos of the new arrangement, the full release.
For now, like me, you’ll have to wait a few hours before getting to see the finished product.
Hopefully you won’t lose sleep over it.
G’night, Warriors.
