[Dutch Lock Down Day Two Hundred Ninety Two]

Holy hell, Netflix’s Alice in Borderland is super violent and gruesome, but also absolutely intriguing.
And there’s a gaming aspect to it, so OF COURSE I’m mesmerized.
But then there’s an almost rape scene?

But first the news:

Here’s the thing, which I’ll talk about more AFTER the cut, is that I’m only on episode seven of eight – I haven’t finished the whole season – but I’m so totally impressed that they managed to threaten rape without actual rape.
And isn’t that just an awful indication of how low the bar is that I’m IMPRESSED with it.
See, cause this show takes place in some kind of armageddon / sci fi / dark scenario which is when a lot of writers are like, okay, let’s show how dark / twisted it is by having a lot of violence and rape.
I’m so sick of rape.
You can indicate the darkness of a place without rape.
Frankly, without violence.
But you’d have to get creative.
I’m still going to finish Alice in Borderland mostly because I don’t like to be controlled by my triggers and I totally want to see if the heroine kills that motherfucker for trying to touch her.
But, mostly, I don’t really have an answer – I didn’t become a lawyer after my shit happened. Or a writer. Or anything other than what I already was – a warrior, as needed.

So while I may still recommend Alice in Borderland after this and the next episodes, I just want you to know that it’s triggering, not just for violence and profanity, but also, yeah, for potential rape, too.
Follow Up w/Spoilers: I finished the show and YESSSS – dude is oh so totally killed AND there are no other rape triggers AND, well, I fell in love with it more when character backgrounds were revealed in the last two episodes. Beautiful stuff.
