[Dutch Lock Down Day One Hundred Eighty Nine]
I am totally SQUEEE to speak at the Dutch Kubernetes Meetup XL tonight along with GitHub’s Sarah Khalife, Microsoft’s @bongo & @karenhchu, LeafCloud co-founder Thatcher Peskens, & HashiCorp’s @onlydole to comment on items announced at #KubeCon!! !
The super awesomeness about this is that it’s virtual AND free AND during the USA day for only a few hours, so if you’re super keen to see me talk about all things #kubernetes and #CloudNative and mostly likely, yes, #CharacterShoes, register NOW!
But first the news:
- Positive coronavirus tests hit 2,223 in 24 hours, setting new record
- New coronavirus rules take effect in Randstad
- Dutch lockdown leads to rise in noise complaints against neighbours
Also, special thanks to the sixty five friends who have already subscribed to my YouTube channel – only thirty five more to go before a PRETTY LINK!! !
For our September 22 we’ll invite several KubeCon speakers, as well as prominent community members to comment on all things announced at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Virtual.
**Sarah Khalife, Solutions Engineer at GitHub**
Sarah is passionate about creating an environment to help organizations implement best practices and improve their Software Development Life Cycle operations. She helps drive open source and innersource, automated workflows, and more secure development for enterprise customers. Previously, she worked as a Senior Software Engineer, deploying and operating GE Digital’s Industrial IoT platform and container service in production using Kubernetes and Cloud Foundry, as well as developing microservices.
**Alessandro Vozza, Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft (@bongo)**
Alessandro (@bongo on Twitter) is a Microsoft OSS Champion, CNCF Ambassador, and community organizer (Kubernetes Community Days; this very meetup).
**Karen Chu, Community Program Manager II**
Karen Chu is a Community PM on the Microsoft Azure Container Compute Upstream team with a focus on open source tools such as Helm, CNAB, Brigade, CNAB, and more. She is a CNCF Ambassador, meetup-, and conference organizer. She has also worked The Illustrated Children’s Guide to Kubernetes book series. When she’s not connecting dots in the community, you can find her traveling, pursuing photography, and enjoying awesome chai.
**Thatcher Peskens, co-founder of LeafCloud (formerly GreenEdge)**
LeafCloud is a truly green cloud; where the heat its servers produce is re-used to save energy. Thatcher likes to think of himself a product nerd, part nerd, part business development. You’ll find him talking to people to understand what they really need, but also getting plenty of development time.
**Taylor Dolezal, Senior Developer Advocate at HashiCorp (@onlydole)**
At HashiCorp, Taylor works on infrastructure tools that enable innovation. Taylor works closely with open source communities, and is passionate about Kubernetes, Terraform, and solving problems with distributed systems. You can usually find Taylor buried deep in a book, preparing a technical talk, or running with his two dogs.
**K Rain Leander, Developer Advocate at Packet, an Equinix Company**
Rain is a systematic, slightly psychic, interdisciplinary community liaison with a Bachelor’s in dance and a Master’s in IT. An epic public speaker, they have disappeared within a box stuffed with swords, created life, and went skydiving with the Queen. Seriously. Rain is an active technical contributor with OpenStack, RDO, TripleO, Fedora, and DjangoGirls.
Program:
18:00 – 19:00 Panel #1 <– I’m in this panel!
19:00 – 19:40 Thatcher Peskens – How to love Kubernetes and not wreck the planet (talk inspired by Holly Cummins’ Kubecon 2020 session “How to love K8S and not wreck the planet”)
19:40 – 20:30 Panel #2 & Closing Notes
Bring your questions, Warriors.
Come for the Rain, stay for the knowledge!
