[Dutch Lock Down Day Two Hundred Sixty Five]
I haven’t streamed on Wednesday mornings in four weeks. Maybe more. And I just realized it might be because of a tweet I took rather personally even though it wasn’t meant personally or maliciously whatsoever nor even meant as a slight against me.
But I totally took it that way.
Cause #criticism
But first the news:
- Coronavirus numbers increase again as RIVM fears Christmas spike
- Around 2 million Dutch have antibodies against Covid-19
- Reactions to Christmas coronavirus measures in the Netherlands
Finally, today, after much discussion and thought and deciding I had rather made a mountain out of a molehill. Oh, yes, and another Wednesday morning without open source streaming, I pushed LIVE on a stream this afternoon and explained what happened.
I think it’ll help.
I hope.
The TL;DR is that I took a tweet to heart that rough and uncut streaming is awful when there’s much flicking of windows and poor audio and struggles.
And, truthfully, those do happen in my streams sometimes – things go wrong sometimes – but I recover. I take a breath, fix it, and move forward. And, really, the reason why I used that comment as an excuse is because the last time I truly explored a new open source project, I didn’t do enough preparation and totally had to walk away from the project having done almost nothing on the repository.
It was quite upsetting.
Quite annoying.
Quite quite.
And I haven’t really tried anything new or taken any risks since.
Not really.
Except that’s what I love to do – take risks, make mistakes, and learn.
So here we are.
And, as much as I’m looking forward to this Wednesday, I have, at the very least, streamed on a Wednesday again. And confessed my sticking point. And now I can move on.
See you on Wednesday morning!
