Dutch Lock Down Day Seventy Six

[Now With More GISH]

With everything else that’s happening in the world and in LeanderLand, I completely forgot about this weekend’s GISH.

It’s a massive scavenger hunt thing.

Normally a week long.

Intensified, shortened, and modified to twenty four hours in light of COVID.

But first the news:

It’s an intense time right now and I’ve been protecting myself, quite a bit – keeping my head in the sand to maintain mental resilience.

Well, GISH just ripped me right out of my comfort zone.

#BlackLivesMatter

Specifically in light of the riots and dialogue finally happening around the United States, GISH opted to focus not only on COVID / isolation / mental health / creativity, but also on equality / #BlackLivesMatter / #NotOneMore / and “showing support to people of color whose lives are impacted or even lost because of the institutional racism in the American criminal justice system”.

The list dropped three hours ago.

And I just grabbed a few before I head to bed – it’s late here in the Netherlands and the kids are confused by the four a.m. sunrise.

It’s against the rules to say what the items actually are but part of one was to watch Ava Duvernay’s 13th.

It’s intense.

Incredible.

True.

And awful.

If you haven’t seen it, please watch.

But, fair warning, it’s triggering.

After I completed this item for GISH, I immediately dove into a super creative very distracting item, forced myself to focus, to completion, and submitted it.

I’m going to sleep now.

I’m going to process.

I hope you’re doing alright, Warriors.

You’re in my thoughts tonight and from now on, permanently.

Together, we fight.
