Making It Up As I Go Along

P is super sick today, I’m working from downstairs AGAIN because connectivity is absolute ASS at our new house, and I’m officially off of sick leave / maternity ramp up.

No big deal.

Okay, but seriously, can we take a second to celebrate that?

OMG I’M FINALLY ONE HUNDRED PERCENT AT WORK AGAIN

IT’S BEEN LITERALLY YEARS

LITERALLY

YEARS

..

KERMIT FLAIL!! !

Ahem.

As you can see from my post the other day, I’m working on my ‘voice’, especially with regards to writing / posting / speaking. For the most part, I ramble, shifting from thought to thought like a stream of consciousness post. With a lot of asides.

A. Lot. Of. Asides.

Cause #WHYNOT

This is pretty much how I speak extemporaneously and I’m so good at it that I often do it for speeches as long as fifteen minutes. I’ve even done workshops as long as three hours in this style, reacting to the audience dynamically to change direction as needed. It’s my thing.

My schtick.

But.

For example, I’m coaching someone on their commencement address and they have a voice that is very different from mine. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. And I’d like to help them perfect their own voice. Their own style.

One way to do that is to try on their voice for a bit.

To be clear, their voice is very different than the aforementioned post from the other day.

But also I’m about to join the world of travel and speaking again and it’s time to actually start writing things down.

Or not.

We’ll see.

I’m experimenting.

And I can’t wait to see what happens next.
